Mental Health

According to the World Health Organization (WHO), Mental health is defined as a state of well-being in which an individual realizes his or her abilities, can cope with the normal stresses of life, can work productively, and is able to contribute to his or her community.

When an individual struggles with the above, it often suggests that s/he may be struggling with a Mental Health Condition.

It's difficult to solve a problem you don't fully understand. Limited knowledge of Mental illness can lead to delay in identification, treatment, and Recovery.

Creating Awareness is at the front burner of Project X.

A survey carried out by Africa Polling Institute and EpiAFRIC (2020) of 5,315 respondents in 36 States and the FCT paints the picture:

What We Hope to achieve?

Encourage Mental Health Conversations

“Anything human is mentionable, and anything mentionable can be more manageable. When we can talk about our feelings, they become less overwhelming, less upsetting, and less scary.” – Fred Rogers

At Reconnect HDI, through Project X, we hope to create safe spaces for people to talk about Mental Health: Professionals, Family Members, Advocates, Academia, and individuals who need support.

To build a community that guides, supports, and most importantly provides information on Mental Health Conditions & Addiction.

Provide Support

“Mental health is not a destination, but a process. It’s about how you drive, not where you’re going.” – Noam Shpancer, PhD

By providing information we hope to encourage individuals suffering from Mental Health Conditions in Nigeria.

To educate them that it's a condition that can be treated and managed.

To emphasize the need to get support and provide information on available treatment options.
